gobble gobble!  Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I’m soo excited to head over to Jeff and Laura’s for wonderful delisciousness.  Have a great feast day because I know I will.  Eat up and be merry!!

car outline

I always wanted an outline of a car to drive around.  So low profile! 🙂

ARTIKCAR by Ben Wilson is a pedal-powered vehicle.  Inspired by a wooden toy car.  The frame is made of steel tubing with an illuminated frame.  Lean to steer.

today’s desk view: orange kids

I love the orange kids!!  Brings a smile to my face every time I see these little kids waddling down the street or in the park.  They are so cute.  It’s always fun to see these little orange dots going across the park when I look out my window.

growing jewelery_hafsteinn juliusson

I can now water my jewelery!  I love rings and thought this was a really cute idea.  Designer, Hafsteinn Juliusson, has made a line of jewelery called “Growing Jewelery” that incorporates growing moss in a silver ring setting.  They are limited edition and supposedly the moss can last up to 12 weeks if cared for properly.  Jewelery + Gardening!  Mist, mist. mist!  Fun and quirky idea. 🙂

trick: vermouth_wine swap

noilly_prat

A little trick I learned recently from Julia Child’s cookbook that I have.  If you don’t have white wine to cook with or don’t know which one to pick, dry vermouth is a perfect substitute.  I tried this out with the mushroom risotto recipe I posted on an earlier posting and it worked PERFECTLY!  The risotto was delicious and flavorful!  I often forget to pick up the white wine when cooking risotto, but with this new vermouth substitute, it’s easier to just buy a bottle and keep it in the cupboard.  For less than $10 it’s a good choice that you can use to cook with serveral times before running out.  Chose to use the Noilly Prat brand of dry vermouth and it worked out well for me.  Tasty risotto.  YUM!

apple store_uws

Views of the new Apple Store that opened this weekend in the upper west side. Very echo-y inside like a junior high gymnasium due to the height of the space, people chattering, and hard surface. Glass airplane hanger!!

corner bistro

Tasty burger and fries for cheap at “Corner Bistro” in the West Village yesterday. Had the “Bistro Burger” and it was delicious. Bacon = YUM

yesterday’s desk view: flossing?

glide course

Are those supposed to be giant teeth?  Strange set up in Union Square yesterday.  I think the person is supposed to be the “floss” running through the teeth.  Last time I looked teeth didn’t look like punching bags…haha.  There goes Casey running through the course!

Leaves that were once yellow are now orange or falling off.  Does that mean winter is almost here?  I’m hoping for a mild one…lol.

subway view: piano man

Always awesome to see a piano in the subway. Makes me really miss having a piano around to play. Had a minute to play on a digital key board with piano weight keys the other day and it was great. Doesn’t beat the real thing though! Felt a little rusty.

monday’s desk view: gamers gathering

Union Square was double booked on Monday as a “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” game launch party went on til midnight along with a “Marriage equality” protest next to it. Mini war for attention!! Protesters armed with candles and gamers armed with their new game. Who won? Probabaly the gamers. Lol. Don’t really know because I was too busy with a deadine at work to notice.

Felt trapped in the maze that is the IKEA store in Redhook. Found this stuffed animal rat trapped in a pail–summarizes my trip…haha. Glad to have gotten out of there alive today and didn’t break the bank at the same time! Wooo

Shoes designed from bread by R&E Praspaliauskas.  The kid sized ones are the cutest-made from little buns.  Don’t think I’ll be eating them after they are worn, but I’ll feed them to the pigeons at least.

today’s desk view: 100s of dancing elves

Dancing elves 1

break dancing elves

Today dancing elves took over Union Square by the 100s.  I think they escaped from Santa’s workshop.  (or they are shooting an Office Max Commercial which is the rumor).  Yesterday it was dancing santas, today it was dancing elves and John Cusack-Say Anything wannabes.  I hope tomorrow is reindeers.

They start with a little break dancing and break out into large choreographed dancing (above).

Dancing elves 2

Dancing elves 3

They look like they are getting ready to dance Thriller, but instead break out into a howdown dance.

Awesome sugar skull decorating at Dave and Hannah’s Dia de los Muertos soup night.  A night of friends, costumes, food, and tasty pumpkin soup with a kick from the chipotle.  Great soup night guys!  The blank sugar skulls ready to be decorated (above).
