Classic Julia Child (above).  What an awesome woman who knew how to make cooking fun.  Just saw “Julie & Julia” and thought it was a really fun movie, but I definitely would have been happy if it was just all about Julia Child because she’s soo great.  Not to Meryl Streep (below) as Julia Child was amazing!  When they would flip to more modern day Queen’s apt of Julie, it made me want to see more Julia.  Is it time for me to purchase one of Julia’s cookbooks and give the recipes a try?  I wouldn’t be opposed to it at all.

Who else has noticed this building in alot of movies?  Maybe I’m just more aware of it being that I’m from California and have visited this building on a trip to LA, but the Caltrans District 7 building by Morphosis has seriously had a lot of screen appearances in movies and tv.  I just watched “The Island” tonight and saw it pop up on the screen in the background and it reminded me of how often the exterior of this building shows up in things I’ve watched.

Where I’ve seen it:

_Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie)
_The Island (Scarlett Johanssen, Ewan Mcgregor)
_Fun With Dick & Jane (Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni)
_Mission Impossible 3 (Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman)
_Because I Said So (Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore)
_Alias (Jennifer Garner)
_Usher music video
_Maroon 5 music video
_and the many other appearances in movies, tv, & commercial that I’ve never personally seen)

Transformers were definitely one of my favorite cartoons growing up.  Saw the Transformers 2 movie last night and it wasn’t as bad of a sequel as I expected.  Always skeptical about sequels.  First movie’s usually the better one.  The dialog was lacking (but goes along with the cheeziness that the cartoon had at times), the storyline wasn’t too bad actually, but if you’re going to this movie it’s all about the Transformer ACTION!!  The choreographed fight scenes between the autobots and decepticons were amazing!  Really great job on the animations.  Michael Bay of course does what he does best and that is explosions of which there were many.  There’s things blowing up every second.  Definitely wasn’t disappointed.  New characters introduced too that were fun.  But I’m definitely a HUGE fan of Bumblebee (one of the classics!), his fight scene in the end is really good.  Miss him as the VW Bug, but the new yellow Camero is a good update for him.  Better to see all these explosions and fights on the big screen for sure.

Excited for Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland due out March 5, 2010 in theaters!  I love Lewis Carroll’s story and Tim Burton’s movies always have such great imagery that this is sure to be a fun movie.  Great costumes based on these photos.  Can’t wait!

By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78 yr. old Carl Fredricksen heads out to fulfill his lifelong dream to explore South America.  After taking off he finds he has a unintentional stowaway scout, Russell.  That’s a basic summary of Pixar’s newest movie, UP!

I love Russell!!  Sooo CUTE!!  Grumpy old man vs. spunky little asian boy…many laughs to be had.  I am sooo ready for this movie.  Comes out today!

(UPDATE: saw this movie and it was awesome!  Pixar made another winner)

coco avant chanel

Audrey Tatou (known for playing Amelie) portrays fashion design icon, Coco Chanel, in the French movie about the designer’s life, “Coco Avant Chanel” (“Coco Before Chanel”).  The movie has been released in Europe already and will be released in limited showing in the U.S. sometime in September 2009 according to IMDB.  I love Audrey Tatou!  Beautiful and great actress.  Excellent choice for the role.  Can’t wait for the movie to come out.
