“Shibori” is a method of tie dye.  This technique results in these crinkled patterns in the fabric when untied.  These bai-shibori (sik) lamps by Katayama Bunzaburo Shoten are really beautiful and fun.  Sooo light and airy.  I want one!

“misty garden” @ ICFF

misty garden humidifier

“Misty Garden” by Japanese company, Mikuni, (designer Miyuki Yoshida) is an environmentally friendly humidifier made of nonwoven fabric that when soaked with water from the tray, allows water to evaporate and naturally humidify the air.  Very nice!

These white trees with hankies tied to them distracted me from looking at the furniture at the inside norway exhibit.  Fun trees!

today’s desk view: dancing gecko?

union square gecko 2
Gecko or lizard? I’m not sure, but he’s doing a dance for some peeps in Union Square.  He’s joining sad panda in the group of giant constumed animals that visit Union Square.

No more dancing going on…now just staring.

come out sun!…

olafur eliasson_tate modern

It’s 55 degrees, midday, in the middle of May in New York??  There is definitely something wrong with that picture.  I’m ready for this rainy, colder, Fall-like weather to end and Summer weather (minus the humidity) to come.  Sunny lunches in the park sound wonderful to me.  Sun, it’s time to come out so I can enjoy wearing skirts, dresses, tanks, and shorts and put away the warm jacket. 🙂

FUZ (company by Josh Jakus) had some really fun products at the show.  All the products shown are made from recycled materials and/or excess material waste from factories (wool felt, wood, cork, rubber, etc).  Very sustainable!  I got a black rubber napkin hug as a takeaway!  It was my favorite takeaway from the show.  All their products can be purchased on the FUZ site.  Pleased to hear that FUZ is a Josh Jakus company.  I have one of his UM bags made from recycled industrial felt and think it’s a really great design.
